Vasan Charitable Trust (VCT) is the social arm (CSR) of Vikatan Group of companies. It was founded by Mr. T.S.Srinivasan in 1968 with the purpose of ‘Giving Back’ to the society. Our main focus is in the area of health care, educational support, livelihood enhancement and environmental protection . Apart from relief intervention and disaster management, Scholarships and Medical aid is been given regularly to the meritorious and deserving candidates periodically.
Unlike other companies, VCT follows a direct intervention strategy. Through the support of our reporters around Tamil Nadu, neediest and vulnerable individuals, families or communities who are approaching us, are being supported in terms of their need. We strive to reach the unreached and enhance their livelihood along with the support of our trusted readers.
In addition to carrying normal activities of the Trust, we undertake special relief work through general public contribution and with that of ‘Vikatan Readers’, in particular.
We believe each one has a purpose in life and one such purpose is to transform other’s lives by extending our support. Hence, #HelpCampaign was born as one of our newest initiatives in July, 2020. It is purely a fund-raising campaign where stories of deserving humans who are in need of education, medical or livelihood needs are provided aid or scholarships.
Corona Relief project is a CSR initiative of Vikatan group of companies which aims to support stranded victims of Corona Lock Down and the pro effects of this pandemic illness. This initiative was kick started on 10/04/2020 with the initial contribution of Rs.10 Lakhs from Vikatan group, Simultaneously 10 per cent contribution from the sale of magazines and digital subscriptions in the month of April 2020.
Restore Delta project is a CSR initiative of Vikatan Group of companies which aims to restore and rehabilitate the victims of Gaja Cyclone in delta region in the year 2018. Main aim of this project is to provide relief kits as an immediate relief, Renovate and restore the damages made by Gaja Cyclone and to rehabilitate the livelihoods of the victims of Gaja Cyclone
Statistics reports there are 444 million children in India under the age of 18yrs. This constitutes 37% of the total population in our country and out of this 1 in 4 children of school going age are out of school in our country, i.e., 99 million children in total have dropped out of school.
Post Chennai Floods (2015), which affected the livelihood of the people in and around Chennai led the way to this project. On initial assessments, it was noted that, the reason for Chennai flood was due to poor water management system, i.e., poor maintenance of water bodies in Kanchipuram district adjacent to Chennai.
